Shadows and Gods delves into the complexities of faith, ambition, and female desire in contemporary Nigeria.

Kairalu Anaka, a successful event planner in Port Harcourt, is driven by an intense need for societal validation. Yet, beneath her polished exterior lies the anguish of recurrent miscarriages and growing discontent in her marriage to Elozo, a philosophical radio host who appears indifferent to her aspirations. In her desperation for motherhood, Kairalu turns to the Greater Eden Ministry, a megachurch that promises miracles. Guided by the charismatic Pastor Gabriel, she becomes ensnared in the church’s doctrines, even as Elozo grows sceptical of its influence.

When Pastor Gabriel reveals a disturbing prophecy—insisting that a witch is consuming Kairalu’s unborn children—suspicion falls on her young cousin, Dumbili. As Kairalu’s faith is tested, she finds herself torn between her desperate pursuit of motherhood and the knowledge that her faith may lead her astray. At the same time, she rekindles a passionate affair with Afulenu, a brilliant architect, and a woman who awakens desires long suppressed.
