Al Akhigbe begins his early education in a midwestern countryside of Nigeria, where he was born into an irreligious and humble family. He is sent to his uncle in Lagos to continue his education. An error in the computation of his result in Yabatech truncates his educational advancement. In his quest for the spiritual meaning of life, he converts to Christianity, grows through the ranks and is ordained a pastor in one of Nigeria's megachurches. He pioneers several satellite churches in Abuja and Lagos. He also goes on missions to Asia, particularly the Philippines, and affiliates some local churches to his church, Christ Embassy.

The General Overseer, Pastor Chris, starts to tailor his messages to benefit only himself and never the church members. He claims the only way to become rich in life is to give to the church, his personal business empire. The drive for money in the church reaches a maniacal dimension, and Pastor Sonny (Al Akhigbe,) juxtaposing the trend with the scriptures, sees gross contradictions and begins to ask questions. Nobody dares question the establishment, and such audacity almost cost him his life.

Reverend Anita becomes tired of her stage-managed marriage and decides to walk away from it. As the news rocks the church, it embarks on propaganda to sway the media and members. Pastor Sonny, as a relative to Reverend Anita, knows a lot others don't know. He is aghast at the shenanigans and peddling of lies by the church. He sees the church as not better than the world and quits.

The book ends with his promise not to keep to the silence code of the church, as he embarks on activities on social media to expose the pitfalls of believing prosperity preachers.

Al Akhigbe is a former pastor of Christ Embassy. He was a pastor for 15 years and has preached in different churches and different nations. He is happily married with five
children. He writes expository notes on social media.
